Moving of GMC Greyhound Scenicruiser PD4501-1001 from Belpre, Ohio to Peoria, IL. 8-8-08 Full restoration will begin within two years. Must finish PD4501-771first. EXP 331 was based directly on this mock-up. Even before this, I believe in 1949 GMC built the GX2. Anyway, after all testing and styling was completed, GMC …

Dear sir, when you have completed this restoration will you you show it on this page? I hope so. Back in the 80′s I drove for trailways out of Norfolk, Va. Every once in awhile a PD 4501 would come into the station and I was able to drive her. She is very nice to drive. Plus when I was a kid we would go from N.Y.C. to Atlanta & would be in one of these puppies. Please let me know when you are completed. Thanks.

Fair enough my friend, I know what some people are like when it comes to these thing, they go a bit overboard and it loses its orginality

  8. pd4501771 Says:

No, this will be an original restoration, not a RV conversion.

I had an opportunity to ride Scenic Cruisers quite a bit as a kid. They were the coolest busses! The twin 4-71′s synced together made music to a future mechanic’s ears. I thought they were 4 speed with electric overdrive. Cool video. Glad to see the old girl is going to be restored. Anyone going back to twin 4-71engines for authenticity? The sound you know!!
    Thanks for posting!

ok I know the old Crown 3 axles school buses used two drive axle which is cool cus you lock them for added traction. Just wonder if any other older 3 axle buses where done like this?

  21. pd4501771 Says:

Forward axle is the drive, and rear is a tag.

  22. BigDan855 Says:

Are both rear axles drive axles? or is one just a tag along? Coudnt tell

Interesting and awesome video pd4501771. Its more than enough that this is a mint conditioned SceniCruiser PD4501, but to be the last one made (1001) is the greatest bus-nut treasure ever and is worth lots of money. !Merry Christmas!
