Greyhound bus driver Frederick Vanderheiden locks all passengers inside bus after accusing them of stealing his sunglasses after a rest stop in Greenriver, Utah. He tells us, “I am going to leave for 15 minutes and if my sunglasses do not appear then this will be your longest day EVER! With that statement he proceeded to leave the bus and lock the door from the outside, stranding us inside with engine off and no air movement while he disappeared into the hotel accross the street for ten …

You obviously don’t have the complete picture. Your tone would be different had I caught on camera the bus drivers rude and accusatory comments along with the treats he made toward the passengers. Had the FBI been there then they would have reprimanded the driver. The driver is not showing respect he just was shocked to find a passenger standing up to his treatment of us that he was speechless. And as he PROMISED in his THREAT everyone dif get there LATE!!!

Is this BALLON BOY again? or MENTAL WARD? No one on the bus would support you. Even the man you put on camera wouldn’t support you, he just looked away. The driver did nothing wrong. He kept in full controll. If this had been an airplane the FBI would have taken you off in handcuffs. Maybe your momma didn’t teach you how to act in public. Have pride in yourself. Watch the driver again. He showed respect, for the other passengers and didn’t continue your rampage. Everyone got there safe.

First of all the part that was not on film was the manner and attitude this driver addressed and accused the ENTIRE bus of stealing then left the bus for and period of time when it was he that told people to load so we could leave. Also knowing that we we pressed for time he threw out the threat of additional delays in our schedule and delivered on that. Also the fact that a door is AIR EQUIPPED has NOTHING to do with security. At all rest stops the doors is OPEN. So so much for SECURITY!!!

This passenger has issues. People dont relaize the door is air equipped and it was shut for security reasons. The driver could have handled this a bit better but in retrospect its passengers like this is why people arent riding the bus as often. Not sure if this passenger is stable or not. So the driver did his job in this case. You tube or not this was done for security. If this was in canada the police would have been called and this Passenger would have been removed.

Maybe we should put YOUR ass on a long cross country bus trip and have the driver delay you to the point of missing connections and having to sit in terminals overnight because a driver could not follow Greyhound rules on keeping your own valuables secure. I do not give the thief a PASS but I also expect the driver to realize his own mistake and NOT take it out on the entire bus. The release button is in the drivers area which was not readily visible. You need to look at the whole picture!

I would think the driver was smart enough to look under his seat before confronting the passengers, give me a break. The passengers should have been giving the thief the grief not the driver. Is that what we have come to in our society? Try to ruin the guy serving the public because its easier than confronting a thief who may be sitting next to us? Put yourself in the drivers shoes? Would you have made the video then? The driver was in a no win situation and I think he handled it VERY WELL.

This is truly a pathetic attempt at slandering a person who has spent years driving driving a bus and hauling jack asses like this around. The Bus was obviously not locked the drive walked straight on when he returned. The button may be on the OUTSIDE but it is connected to the same mechanism that the on on the inside is. The idiot just did not push the button on the inside even when a number of other passengers where telling him which one to push!

I don’t know how many busses you have been on but in rest stops the door is left open so that people can come and go. Also prior to him accusing the whole bus of stealing his sunglasses the door had been OPEN the entire time. Also as passengers are constantly reminded to not leave valuables on the bus when leaving the bus he should have followed his own advice. Should the driver have locked passengers on the bus until the girl who had her IPHONE stolen got that back too. NO!

This guy definitely has an agenda against this driver. I know it’s not proper to say,but this very well may be racially motivated. Yes it goes both ways! Who is this guy to officially fire this driver on the spot!! I know that it was about 0 zero outside. What was the driver suppose to do leave the door wide open? This loud mouth would be screaming about how this driver was trying to freeze them to death!! Doesn’t he see that the whole area is covered in snow. He needs SUNGLASSES for SAFETY!!!

  10. ksmiley6910 Says:

Yes the door does open but from a switch that is located on the OUTSIDE of the bus. The driver on the other hand should not punish the other passengers for the deeds of one and by making the comment that “If my glasses are not returned then this will be a very long day for you”. Leaving the bus as he did with passengers on it he ran the risk of something happening on that bus and us not being able to quickly exit. This does not seem to be calm and professionialism.

  11. soxo666 Says:

While this poster is obviously trying to just trying to start trouble, the driver shows nothing but calm and professionalism. Most of the passengers wanted nothing to do with this fool and he might have needed to be removed at this point. If glasses were taken, it is obvious that the young man who claimed to suddenly find them is likely the thief. The door doesn’t appear to be locked and the driver had no problem opening it.
