Same, My IG won’t even go outside if it is drizzling! All she wants to do is sleep, eat and cuddle with us. When there is snow, we bring her food in bed because she can’t even get out of bed in the cold. Italian greys are very reserved but once you get to know them they are some of the sweetest dogs!
i have a 120 lb lab mix, a 95 lb rott mix and 2 ig’s and they’re great with them. i have seen more ig’s break their leg from jumping off the bed than being around bigger dogs. good luck with yours!
I’m thinking of getting one of these, but I have a 110 pound Yellow lab…Do you think a IG will do fine around him? He’s just a big ham and this dog will be mine. As if the lab isn’t mine, he’s just more attached to my parents. Are IG’s fine around big dogs? Please reply.
oh my god that is adorable. my iggy has jumped in a couple times but she kind of just starts to sink! she could probably learn to paddle but we get too nervous and pull her right out!
Wow that’s amazing my iggy hates the water. When I put him in the pool, he tries to climb on the edge and escape. He’s not a very graceful swimmer, either…he just clunks his paws in the water and splashes me haha.
How did you get it to willingly go i the water…I live on a lake but when I once tried to put her in she attempted to swim without getting her paws wet???
Thank you so much for replying to my comment! My dog is a very timide and shy ig, we really want him to get used to the things aronud him, i.e water, other people, other dogs. He turns 3 this summer and he has definately shown progress since when we first got him.
Thanks for your comment! Molly did not like the water at first and we never attempted to encourage her to like water. She loves to play and she gradually learned that we have fun in water and will play with her when we swim. She likes to be in the middle of everything. Over a 3 year period, she gradually became more comfortable with water. And she only swims if we are in the water and if the weather is very warm (hot). Thanks for your questions!
my ig won’t have anyhting to do with water! even if im in the pool he goes and hides somewhere, did they always like the water? or did you have to get them used to it? i would love it if my ig swimmed =[
That is sooooo sweeeet! He looked like he was drinking that cholrinated water at the end. Uh, oh. Have to be careful he doesn’t drink that poison. I always keep water outside and inside for my pets. I’m sure you do also.
That was a very sweet video. I LOVE Greyhounds with all my heart.
This reminds me of a ig, pool experience, i had! My dogs thought my sister and i were in danger for some reason in the pool and jumped in! Right when he touched the water he went right back to the ledge trying to push himself out. Awesome vid.
That is SO GREAT TO SEE! How did you get him/her to do that? My 9 month old will NOT come into the pool but you know he’d like to; my 3 month old- I just pick her up, swirl her around a little to get used to it, but then she gets cold so fast…..but that’s great. Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks for sending the video; it’s great! Rhona, Mojo and Mia Lee

Yes. I have a greyhound and a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix. Just make sure your lab doesn’t accidently hurt your IG if he means to just play.

I thought greyhounds weren’t supposed to be able swim… or is that just regular greyhounds?
It might be different for IG’s…
