If you stop using warm water they wont get weak and fall, greyhounds are very sensitive to the water temperature. Use cooler water, not ice cold but cool, they will get just as clean and wont collapse on you.
My greyhound JAZZ absolutely hated to get wet. Some just don’t like it. He had cancer and I had to have him put asleep at age 10. I cried like a baby. I had 5 great years with him that I’ll always remember. Never a day goes by that I don’t think of him. They’re very gentle and great with kids. A great pet to adopt.
It’s not that the greyhound doesn’t like to get a bath, it’s the warm water sometimes makes greyhounds legs very weak (oh… well then maybe he doesn’t like it, haha I retract what I said). I would suggest getting a stretchy shower head to use on him, and definitely get a bath mat. You can just put the mat down when you’re going to wash your greyhound… they’re very afraid of falling on slipper surfaces so a mat is a necessity.
I was totally enjoying reliving “bath-time”, then read the comments about your beautiful grey having died. We lost our first one 4 years ago…I still miss her, but we have our beautiful Gilly, now!
Our first male we had had passed from cancer. We didn’t find out until he was yelling whenever we touched his side passed the rib area. We took him in to an emerg. vet and they opened him up and was covered with cancer. We brought him back to our vet and she coudlnt believe they put him through the crap they did. My dad and I brought him in, and all he wanted to do was get up and leave with us and he coudlnt… was one of the hardest things I have had to do… I’m sorry you lost yours, it hurts
I am so sorry you lost this baby! I lost my first REAL dog, Murphy, to bone cancer, and to be honest… going through that and ultimately having to let her die was a harder loss than any of my human relatives. Something about their absolute unconditional love that makes the loss so many, many times harder to endure.
my dog hates his bath with a passion too! I wonder why (some) dogs don’t like them? My dog was a rescue dog but he can’t feel threatened by baths or water, can he?
btw, your dogs cute and I hope that he rests in peace .he must have lived a great life with you guys.
I love too how you praised him while being a good boy (just showered mine last night)
I’m very very sorry for your loss. For the horse comment below. Greys are like horses because of their strong neck muscles. A greys neck is a smaller version. Greys and horses also share similiar joint issues while racing. In fact we use a horse inflammatory rub for these guys when injured with sprains and swollen muscles etc.

my greyhounds love their baths, but only in the summer.

They always collapse in the bath! I lay a towel down in the bath to give them something to dig their toes into, but it doesn’t help much.
