my girlfriend is fanatical about this track it was our first song we listened to together and even called our motorhome after this track.(dreams of traveling to unknown places)found on album “I,m in the mood for love”
Thanks so much for uploading this!!!
Tony Oakley, the lead singer, was our neighbour in Stoke Newington. I was best friends with his little sister Pauline. I was a young kid, but remember when “Black & White” made the charts and Greyhound performed it on Top of the Pops. Their Dad was so proud.
Stoke Newington – the home of Lover’s Rock!!
I’ve been trying to find this for 15 years! I heard it once on the radio driving down I-95 through North Carolina. I didn’t hear who the singer was, so I had no way of tracking it down. Years later, when I got on the Internet, I hunted down every music sample I could find trying to find this version, but no luck. But my luck changed tonight, thanks to you! Finally, after all these years, I get to hear this again for the second time. And the third, fourth, fifth . . .
this brings back loads of memories from when i first heard it in Dusseldorf Germany, was always playing in the clubs and NAAFI jukeboxes, absolutely wonderful, thank you, just wish I was 19 again
you can get this on “REggae Spectacular” its on Amazon. its listed as a Jimmy Cliff disc, but its not, it has some other classics Greyhound, Blue Haze & Bob & Marcia. definitely a must own disc.
I bought this at a music shop on hull paragon train station in 1972,still love the song now,it was always at the front of my K-TEL record selector, thanks for posting.
I just close my eyes and listen to this… and I’m a teenager again… back home… laying on my bed… not a worry in the world!! One of my all time favourites ) x
